Become a Volunteer Today!
As a Health Sense Hospice volunteer, you are an integral member of the Health Sense Hospice team. Our volunteers provide important services to our patients and their families by not only providing companionship to a person in their final stages of life but also offering support to family members and caregivers. Some volunteers assist in the office with clerical duties and some work on special projects to benefit our patients.
As a Health Sense Hospice volunteer, you can do a variety of things such as visit and read to patients, write letters, listen to music, play cards or games and give the caregiver time to get out of the house for short periods. You can make such a difference in a family’s life just by being present and compassionate.
Family and Caregiver support
Health Sense Hospice volunteers can allow family caregivers the opportunity to take care of necessary errands or simply have some time for their own self-care. Volunteers can also love on family pets.
Health Sense Hospice volunteers work closely with the hospice’s bereavement staff. Duties may include assisting with serving refreshments at family bereavement visits or helping with mailings to families.
All Health Sense Hospice volunteers attend volunteer training where you will learn about the culture of the Health Sense organization as well as important information about working directly with patients and families. These trainings are scheduled around the volunteer’s schedule.
